Spock in OR needs a home

February 20, 2012:  Spock needs a new home, he'd prefer one with only a few cats or less.  He's stressed living with a larger group of kitties.

November 18, 2011: Spock's new home is not working out, he's a wonderful kitty but would do better with a few less cats around. He will continue to be cared for while DCIN works to find a new furrever home for this sweet little man.

October 20, 2011: Spock had his dental and EKG on Tuesday of this week and is home now getting some rest. He had 12 teeth extracted, poor little man must have a very painful mouth for some time. He is currently on antibiotics and pain meds. The vet who did the EKG was not there at time of pick up to give any details on that, but we will update the blog when we have that information.

(From a Facebook post by Jennifer later on the 20th. "Spock's mom talked to the vet, she said his EKG looked great and his X-Rays showed only a very slight heart enlargement which she said would cause no problems."  ~Venita)

October 1,2011: Spock is home and doing great. His vet thinks so too. He does have rear leg neuropathy but with some MethylB12 and insulin regulation that should resolve itself. His left ear needs some cleaning and the vet felt that could be the reason he was tilting his head for a short time. His blue eye may be showing the start of a cataract, the pupil is slower to react to light and is slightly larger than the other.

He will need an echo to check his heart before the dental, at least two teeth, possibly three need extraction.

New mom, Carolyn, loves this sweet boy and says Mr. Spock is very precious to her.

September 20, 2011: A wonderful update on Spock from his super foster person, Jen who we thank very much for taking such good care of him. She tells us he started Lantus last week along with canned EVO and is already showing improvement in energy levels and attitude. Doing well on 1U BID may even be ready for a dose decrease soon. She says regarding his heart "he is not symptomatic for heart failure, and may not even have something that will affect him; the echo will be needed to evaluate the origin of the murmur and his cardiac function." I'm no vet but I like how that sounds. We will do the echo to be sure he's safe for his dental.

He starts his journey to his new home early next week. Once home he will rest for a bit and then it will be time to get those teeth fixed up. He is well on his way to a fantastic new life, one where he can enjoy being a kitty.

September 17,2011: Spock is still in foster care with Jen, and will be getting ready for his dental and echocardiogram to check on a heart murmur.

Any amount donated for Spock will go directly to his care and will help him get started on the best part of his life. He will be heading to his new home in a few weeks but in order to ensure he is healthy enough for travel and ready to start on this, the last journey to his furrever home we need your help.

September 13, 2011: Sweet Spock who is being fostered by Jen Hendee in Santa Cruz has a wonderful new home to go to as soon as he's feeling better. A member of the felinediabets.com message board has adopted our little man. We wish him all of the best and hope he can be moved soon, but we're happy Jen is taking care of him until she feels he's ready to go.

San Francisco Animal Care and Control worked very hard to help Spock find a place and we thank them for working with DCIN and approving so quickly so that we could rescue him and get him started on his amazing journey.

September 12, 2011: Thanks to Jen Hendee, a vet in Santa Cruz, Spock was pulled today and she is going to check him out for us and foster short term. DCIN is still in need of a foster in the CA area for this sweet young man, but for today he is safe and not going to be put down.

September 11, 2011: We have until Tuesday to find a placement for this little man. SF ACC has approved DCIN to pull him but we have no place to put him.

September 9, 2011: Spock is an owner surrender at the San Francisco Animal Control. See his intake sheet? Day in and Day out are the same, that's because he should have been put down already.

A member of FDMB posted about him and a few DCIN folks did our best and we got some extra time, but not much. Spock has until the end of this weekend to find a placement.

If you can help, please don't hesitate, there's no time. He's 13 years old and is very sweet.
