I'm a pretty girl!
My glamor shot!!

May 8, 2013--This pretty girl is a courtesy post for a diabetic-friendly shelter group in Cumberland, Maine.

This lovely Seal Point Himmie is Claire, an eleven year old lady whose owner could no longer care for her. Claire is very sociable and loves people. She is a real talker and loves to play with feather wands. You would never know she is a senior kitty by her personality!

Claire is a recent arrival and is a resident of our diabetic room. This means that she is EXTRA sweet, because as far as purrsonality, she is as sweet as can be! Initially, she was on Lantus insulin, but her body did not need even that small amount of insulin, so she is currently considered a "diet-controlled" diabetic. Claire needs to eat a low-carb, canned food diet only. We do spot check her blood sugar each week to make sure she is still maintaining a reasonable level. Miss Claire tolerates the testing and HART can teach her new "parents" how to test Claire at home. HART can also provide resources and information directing her new family on the nutrition that she needs to help keep her diabetes in check. One of our very generous volunteers has offered to donate $100.00 worth of Fancy Feast when you adopt Claire!

Please consider opening your heart and home Claire. She would LOVE a warm bed and comfy lap to snuggle in. To contact HART, here is the link to our website: For a blank adoption application, click on this link:
