- What is the cat's purrsonality, can s/he be easily handled, is s/he friendly or aloof, loving or angry?
- Does the cat have any obvious clinical symptoms of diabetes--neuropathy, dehydration, low body weight, PU/PD?
- Take along your glucometer and test the cat. Can s/he be easily tested, and what is her/his BG level?
- Are there any other obvious clinical symptoms of disease present--cloudy eyes, runny nose, sneezing, tender abdomen, enlarged lymph nodes in the neck, yucky teeth or gums? (I'm not expecting a vet exam--just observations from someone experienced with cats and feline diabetes.)
- Does the diabetes treatment the cat is receiving from its present caregiver(s) appear adequate (hometesting, low-carb wet food, appropriate insulin, ketone testing)? Is the cat's health (or even life) at risk because of inadequate or inappropriate diabetes treatment?
- Can you get a couple photos of the cat? If you can get video, especially of her/him walking, that would be great!!
