Dutchess in Ontario

October 8, 2013--Dutchess has moved to another foster home in Ontario. She has been OTJ for a year. We have taken Dutchess off our adoptables page until we hear from the new foster home how they want to handle her promotion on our blog and Facebook page. ~Venita

January 14, 2013:  We are very excited to learn that Dutchess is off insulin. She is now a diet controlled kitty. Her current foster writes the following:

"I have not given Dutchess any insulin for over 1 month. She is on a diet of low-carb wet food.(Fancy Feast currently.) She seems to be thriving; she is back to her “mouthy” self (wanting lots of attention and very talkative etc). Her weight seems to have stabilized too."

December 6, 2012:We have received an update from foster home that has sweet Dutchess. Dutchess very much needs a forever home. Foster mom cannot give the care that Dutchess needs.

October 3, 2012: Sweet and docile Dutchess is a beautiful young lady who needs a home. At just 12 years young she's had a difficult life. She was surrendered to her current foster due to lack of time, lack of clean living space, and family allergies.

Diagnosed 2 days ago after being brought to the vet for inappropriate urination. Many times that is one of the first signs that a kitty is sick. Once regulated that often goes away quickly. Her current foster has a busy home, rescue dogs, kids, a full schedule at work and took Dutchess in after she was returned from yet another home.

Dutchess is very loving, so good with people, she's a little nervous around dogs. Her foster mom says she loves to be pet, she loves to sit on the back of the couch and she's very talkative. She's being switched to canned food and insulin options are being looked into.

Before going to this foster home, she lost her bonded sister and is still getting over that loss.

Dutchess has the nicest emerald green eyes I have ever seen on a cat - they don't show up well in these photos, but they are beautiful!
She just needs a real shot at a nice home that understands diabetes and can help Dutchess overcome this.
